My babyboy asked me what we were reading for MLK Day. We went with Coretta's Journey by Alice Faye Duncan and Prophet of Discontent by Andrew J. Douglass and Jared A. Loggins (only 93 pages).

Marlene Daut's "Awakening the Ashes: An Intellectual History of the Haitian Revolution" is the star of this year's Haitian history review. I'll read parts of other faves, but this one gets the full reread. Per tradition, I need to finish before having soup joumou on January 1st.
