Just picked up a library-discard copy of Ella Baker: Freedom Bound by Joanne Grant and the paperback edition of Reconsidering Reparations by Olúfémi O. Táíwò

Another day with a soundtrack alternating between Doechii and Wise Intelligent with a few other artists fit between. Maybe I'll get some Konpa in later.

Picked this up for the babies in the ASHRAE Bookstore at AHR Expo

I took the babies to meet and honor legendary Civil Rights Movement attorney Fred Gray at the National Portrait Gallery. At 94 years old, he still remembers the dates and details of his meaningful life fighting for a better world.

My babyboy asked me what we were reading for MLK Day. We went with Coretta's Journey by Alice Faye Duncan and Prophet of Discontent by Andrew J. Douglass and Jared A. Loggins (only 93 pages).

Whether he's actually guilty of working with gangs, the former lawmaker's name could go in a comic book. Like "Dr. Villain" from the Priest Steel run

"The First and Last King of Haiti" is here!

My babies will eventually inherit a well-loved "Awakening the Ashes" with my library. No one else will want my copy.

There's a new Nosferatu movie? Will they show him attacking election workers?

Marlene Daut's "Awakening the Ashes: An Intellectual History of the Haitian Revolution" is the star of this year's Haitian history review. I'll read parts of other faves, but this one gets the full reread. Per tradition, I need to finish before having soup joumou on January 1st.

Doechii keeps going hard for my fandom like she didn't already earn it.

Today is a good day to read (or reread) chapter 3 of "The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks" by Jeanne Theoharis and completely ignore memes and sloppy posts about Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin.

November 18, 1803. Commemorate Batay Vètyè as the "final battle" of the Haitian Revolution. We'll create "new magic" together.

There. Tell your disingenuous Uncle Ruckus to cut me a check. 😂
