Department of Class Solidarity
@solidaritydept.bsky.social
The Department of Class Solidarity arms organizers, activists, and everyday people with the tools to expose the billionaires ransacking our democracy. Welcome to the war room of the working class.
This is what Elon Musk's trillion dollar payout looks like when annualized and compared to the total annual income of every EMT, school bus driver, nurse, teacher, cashier, and even CEOs.

This is class war. And the oligarchs are winning. The time to organize is now.

Marc Rowan is trying to end academic freedom as we know it.

The billionaire Trump donor is demanding higher ed institutions to sign a loyalty oath to gain access to federal funds.

Here's how faculty, students, and @aaup.org @psc-cuny.org @debtcollective.bsky.social responded.

That’s $53,792,403 that could have gone to feed families who had their SNAP benefits cut by Trump. $53,792,403 that could have helped rent-burdened tenants. Almost the same amount that it would take to fund Zohran’s proposal for five city-owned grocery stores.

Here are the names of the billionaires who burned $53,792,403 in donations to super PACS trying to stop Zohran Mamdani. All because they didn’t want the working class to have a city they can afford.

@aaup-penn.bsky.social Vice President Lorena Grundy took to the streets alongside @psc-cuny.org @debtcollective.bsky.social and more to denounce Trump ally and billionaire Marc Rowan's assault on academic freedom.

Proud CUNY graduate @jumaane.bsky.social stood in solidarity with @aaup.org @psc-cuny.org outside oligarch Marc Rowan's office to denounce the Educational Trump Loyalty Oath.

The people beat the oligarchs to elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social. We'll beat them again to preserve academic freedom.

Today, @aaup.org @aaup-penn.bsky.social @psc-cuny.org outside Apollo Global Management's Midtown office to protest Marc Rowan's "Compact for Higher Education". PSC-CUNY President James Davis explains why this assault on higher ed undermines academic freedoms and our democracy itself.

Worth $10.2 billion, Rowan donated $1 million to the Trump campaign before drafting this loyalty oath. Before that, he gave $50 million to create the Penn Wharton Budget Model, a key weapon against student loan cancellation. Ruining student lives is his passion.

Billionaire Marc Rowan wrote Trump's "Academic Compact" loyalty oath in order to, in his words, destroy universities the way seen in Europe in the 30's and 40's.

His private equity firm Apollo also owns the University of Phoenix, the country's biggest creator of student debt.

Bill Ackman has spent more money attacking free childcare than he would be taxed to help make childcare free.
November 1, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Over the last few decades New York City has become a playground for the oligarchs, who collectively are worth $717 billion even as tens of thousands of working class New Yorkers are forced out of their homes every year.

It's time we taxed the rich. And Zohran will make sure it happens.
October 29, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Right now, all income above $90,000 is taxed at the same rate. Which mean Michael Bloomberg, who reports an annual average income of $2 billion, is in the same top tax bracket as a teacher or bus driver.

No wonder he's leading the pack with $8.3 million donated to anti-Zohran expenditures.
October 29, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Why are the billionaires lining up against Zohran?

He's proposing a 2% tax increase on residents making more than $1 million in annual income and a 2.65% increase in the tax rate on corporations that operate in the city, to match that of New Jersey. The result? $9 billion a year in new revenue.

Almost all the billionaire cash is going to Andrew Cuomo (98%) with 58 of the 62 billionaire spenders giving a total of $18.4 million to Cuomo super PACs. Among them are descendants of billionaires like Jeffrey Epstein associate Ronald Lauder and John and Lizzie Tisch, parents of Commissioner Tisch.
October 29, 2025 at 8:18 PM
The billionaires are trying to buy the next Mayor of New York.

An analysis by Americans for Tax Fairness reveals that 62 billionaires and their descendants have contributed over one-third - $18.7 million – of all the donations to super PACs involved in the race. Their target? Zohran Mamdani.
October 29, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Bill Ackman's wealth alone could fund two years of Zohran's proposed universal childcare program, or eleven years of free busses.

A much better use of his wealth than destroying our democracy.

Instead of attacking affordability, Bill Ackman's wealth could make life more affordable for millions of Americans.

Reminder that this is the billionaire who is profiting off of the deportation industrial complex.

Not content with swallowing up every other industry, Bezos is now hellbent on making Amazon the heart of the immigration-disappearance industrial complex - and making himself even richer in the process.
September 25, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Jeff Bezos has been catching heat for his assault on the First Amendment and his craven support of the Trump administration. But here's another reason he should be on the hot seat: powering ICE's immigration disappearance machine.
September 25, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Jeff Bezos' wealth alone would transform tens of millions of lives by itself.
September 24, 2025 at 7:10 PM
"Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor, spent $8.3m supporting Cuomo over the summer, and the money is continuing to pour in: less than two weeks ago Ron Lauder, a billionaire Republican donor, gave $750,000 to a super Pac backing Cuomo."
September 22, 2025 at 5:24 PM
"Among the plotters were...Bill Ackman, a hedge fund manager and some-time activist who has a net worth of nearly $10bn.

He pledged to invest huge amounts in blocking Mamdani, who more than 570,000 people voted for (including ranked choice voters) in the Democratic primary."
