Layoffs suck, Microsoft sucks, but nobody should be surprised about this one. The studio was formed in 2018, announced Perfect Dark in 2020 & it's now 2025 with nothing to show for it.
If anything, Microsoft bought Bethesda and Activision because studios like The Initiative & 343 were hemorrhaging

Replaying Oblivion though has shown the load screens aren't that bad. Certainly ES6 can reduce the amount and make overall larger more seamless areas, but the fact there is an open world you can travel without loading is a big factor. Something Starfield lacked by nature of being a space based game

Because VG characters don't always translate well into other mediums 1:1... Plus Lady isn't going to act like in game Lady yet as this is still building up to that..

Suicide Squad and Star Wars Outlaws by objective measures are decent games. Because we're spoiled by the amount of actual 9 or 10/10 games that you judge them as worse

Concord wasn't unplayable though, mechanically it was a functioning game with working servers and features. Just because the art style sucked, was over priced, and nobody was interested doesn't dramatically lower the score.

Because they only review higher profile media which is almost always a 6/10 at worst. Go browse the new releases on steam, play a few and you'll quickly realize what true 5/10 and less games are like

IGN does give reviews that are lower than 7 though? They just rarely review actual slop games though. As much as people hate stuff like Star Wars Outlaws or Dragon Age, they are par for the course for 7 games. Then whenever they do rate a game higher people cry that they were paid off. They cant win

Even then, normal difficulty alone assumes you aren't going to complete everything because if you do you quickly become vastly over leveled for main story battles.

That's just a plain lie, basically all of the side content can be skipped and shows you didn't play the game. Switching to dynamic difficulty ensures every encounter matches your level too
The problem people had was that all the side content was great and they didn't want to just skip any of it.
