Hear me out: a crossover between “Severance” and “House of Cards” where the politicians have completely different personalities depending on who they’re talking to.
The plot twist is that they’re not that different, and are also quite stupid, so it’s very hard to follow the plot.

So, the proof of European competency and agency is that they leave all the initiative with US and/or Russia?
Either Russia needs to come forward with a serious ceasefire proposal, or US with a serious plan. Nothing at all for EU to do until then.

Grok, who is the most tragic selfless hero of all time? Prometheus or Elon Musk?

Well, how can you hope to truly understand the horrors of late-stage capitalism unless you’re close friends with a pedophile billionaire?

Auto-dealer: So, how do you like this one, sir?
Altman: It needs more horses.
Dealer: It sure does! So what else is important for you? The 4-wheel drive on…
Altman: Horses. Horses is what matters.
*Altman is fixing his unblinking gaze at the dealer*
Dealer: ….Got you. So what we can…
Altman: Horses.

“For Ukraine” always gets me in those statements by responsible statecraftsmen.
He could have just stopped at “We will not risk WW3”. But no, he had to explicitly specify that while WW3 is generally a fine option, it’s not worth starting over silly things, like the lives of Ukrainians.

I am old enough to remember when the principal accusation against partying Sanna Marin was that she wasn’t clean on opsec.

Great analogy too!
Surely the situation he describes can only be compared to the perceived threat of illegal migration to the lifestyle of the English gentlefolk.
It’s not like there is currently a literal war going on on the same continent, in which hard men actually fight off an actual evil empire

That wouldn’t cause even a fraction of a stir that Greta would.

They should use a proven formula of 2022 and split it between Trump, Netanyahu and Greta Thunberg so that every single person on Earth hates it.

We function like LLMs: we just guess the next Ukrainian word based on vibes without understanding the meaning of it. It makes for fun and engaging conversations sometimes. I wish I could really understand Ukrainian though, it’s a beautiful language!

They’ve been doing this every decade or so, but for the first time I kind of see their logic.

Russian and North Korean tanks on the streets of Tallinn represent a significant provocation, but we will remain calm, focused, and committed to our mission of strengthening Europe with our new 100T spending plan “Unwavering Resolve 2040” (subject to approval by Hungary)

“Let us hope and pray that these terrible war machines will not accidentally disturb peace in Europe, but will instead be used only as intended - to kill Ukrainians.”
September 10, 2025 at 5:25 PM
It’s fine! The key is to remain calm and flexible, and keep adding rules.
Like, for instance, it should be permissible to launch a few drones into a neighboring country once in a while, so long as the number is kept below 5% of what you launch to kill civilians in your main target zone.

China enabling its quasi-vassal state to launch drone attacks on a NATO country is just a distraction from the strategic competition with China.
September 10, 2025 at 7:34 AM
That’s because they shot down fewer than 20 drones by all accounts.
It is clear to everyone who understands international law and realist theory that the real escalation only starts with 20 drones or more.
Everyone can get back to business, surely this won’t happen again.

I don’t think the probabilities for the above are evenly distributed on any given day.
More like 70/2/28%

How did they miss the invasion of Afghanistan by USSR as another example of a hopeless war waged by delusional leadership, it was right there!

You cannot deny obvious progress being made, as measured by the total vertical distance travelled by both parties.
