Solestial solar power modules are engineered for space with an ultrathin design and very low mass. At only 272 microns and 340 - 400 g/m2 depending on mission specifics, the result is more power, lighter launches, and greater design flexibility for next generation spacecraft.

One advantage of Solestial’s Si heterojunction tech (HJT) is its lower temp coefficient.

Compared to p-type diffused junction cells (PERC), Solestial degrades just -0.24% per °C, compared to -0.34%. At 80°C, our 20% cells deliver +1% absolute / +6% relative efficiency.

Solestial’s rad-hard silicon solar cells show no additional degradation compared to adjacent III-V cells after a year of continuous operation in LEO. Data from AVS shows that our modules are a cost-effective alternative to traditional II-V solar cells for space.

This 5.5 meter long, rollable integration was made using new manufacturing processes to produce larger, 1-meter-wide solar power modules. Our flexible solar cell technology improves total mass density and stowed volume while maximizing deployed array power density.

Last week, we opened our doors for a special Friends & Family Open House. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with tours of our manufacturing space, presentations, food and drink, and plenty of fun as Solestians shared their work with the people who support them every day.

Our sputtering tool is a specialized in-line coater used to deposit thin films onto our solar cells. This behemoth is roughly 50x larger than the tool we used in our pilot production line!
