On a quest to make the greatest RPG the NES has ever seen, one line of asm code at a time. Breaking the ~8 years of secret dev sometime in 2025!
I mean, what else could make for more wild RPG ideas than today’s catalog shopping? Pirate heroine, check!

When your mom being on Facebook suddenly pays off! “Anyone want this horrible computer?” I guess she does know me after all 😂.

That’s a fun surprise to see! @ecmyers.com

Uh… this doesn’t look natural.

I fell for these unlikely mashups a few weeks ago. Bleh!

Made some Typhoon Deviled Eggs, but couldn’t find “meat floss” since we live in the middle of nowhere. Subbed jerky chew instead. Took three gas stations to source it 😂 . @humanthomas.bsky.social

Went to MGC so @bitethechili.com could install Linux on my PC. Only took all of Saturday…

Hard to forget why I bought this heat gun. I miss those donor days sometimes.

Finding some of my old game design notes while visiting my mom’s, circa ‘94 if I had to guess. There’s a reason @kevinhanley.khangames.com’s Study Hall instantly appealed to me. Stat pages followed, so it was some sort of RPG.

Ice dams and homebrews don’t mix! Learned this one the hard way, but no games were damaged. The drywall wasn’t so lucky.

When you’ve had more than half of the snow that fell all last year fall in the first six days of winter! Frosty is sliding back little by little.

Mentally I’m here, inspired by all of the neat things the NES homebrew community has done over the years, like retroUSB’s power loom shown at PRGE awhile back. If you’re not knitting @khangames.com’s head, are you really Knitting with Power?

I run light with my tool use (I think), so all of them!

OS: Windows XP
Emulator: FCEUX
Code: Notepad++, NESASM3
Graphics (mostly editing): Paint 2003, YY-CHR, Aseprite
Map building: Tiled
Other: XP Calculator

And of course, pen and paper!

How it started, and how it’s going! This one has taken some work, that’s for sure!

Cleaned up or not, anybody else have an NES or game dev space they’re proud of, find cozy, retreat to, or hoard stuff in? Let’s see ‘em!

Finally got around to doing that.

I (sometimes) drywall like I (sometimes) code, following @memblers.bsky.social dictum: if it works, what does it matter? Patience, time, and editing count for a lot in both activities.

I’ve been cleaning and fixing up old toys with my daughter lately, exploded batteries in this case, and she got to experience her first book on tape. One of my favorites as a kid! She hasn’t watched TV or played a videogame yet, but the seeds are being laid ;)
