Imo, referring to your character as half has a different connotation than specifically bringing up quantum, if that makes sense due to the social ramifications? It's the difference between S'olea claiming half Miqo and Hroth parentage vs having it denied due to not being "pure" if it makes sense.

So in my personal life experience, blood quantum is used to determine eligibility for tribal census enrollment-- it's basically a way to dilute the blood enough so you can't claim ancestry on paper, thereby shrinking the tribe population as a whole. I just barely squeak by for enrollment. (cont)
