Scanned photos of a real world Battletech cooling suit today in the US National Archives
19 February 1982, a soldier wears a Vehicle Microclimate Cooling System vest. It contains a liquid chiller distribution system that prevents a rise in body temperature in environmental conditions typical of combat vehicles operating in a chemical-biological warfare mode in warm climates. The photograph has been posted to note its resemblance in form and function to Battletech / MechWarrior, where Cooling Suits are LosTech technology designed to prevent pilots from overheating in prolonged combat. The back of the photograph, from which most of the previous description was derived.
