Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree. One of the most common reasons I see people feel the impulse to call it slop is that the fandom is really aggressive in pushing the show (in a non-endearing way), and the fact that its IMDB ratings are actually quite heavily overrated IMO.

There is a just a whole lot of things we humans will probably never experience. I feel like somewhere, out there, exists a planet or solar system that will fundamentally change how we view the a part of our universe. There is only so much we can see with from Earth.

Honestly, as a player of around 200 hours, the stories tend to become pretty repetitive after a while. I generally find more fun in building megaprojects or something really silly, rather than roleplaying with my dwarves these days.

Connection established. I successfully entered an experience. The site seems to be fully operational once again. The broken webelements are gone. Seems to have been just a temporary maintenance shutdown. Probably relating to the new event.

The World is such a different place from 2015. I really wonder if Undertale's moral message would have been felt by so many people today, since people have a bleaker outlook on life.

Interesting. I had not thought about the game being about judgments and perception too, but I can totally see it. Most people would definitely act for their own survival if they were trapped in an underworld full of monsters. But the game questions our judgment that by asking us to empathize.

I am asking this in good-faith. It is not to provoke a reaction. It just seems like so many people have life-changing experiences with this game. So I am curious as to what elements really resonated with them.

May I ask how it changed your outlook on life? I always imagined the message of the game being more a statement on how players - and to a wider extent fandoms - interact with video games. The moral lessons in the game to me can be summarized with: "Be a good person."

I get so confused sometime, being agender is a gender identity for some people. For me, it's having no gender identity at all. Quite confusing no?

I honestly agree that UTDR characters, are on the whole mostly pretty static characters which rely a lot on their "gags", while still having some layers to them. With the notable exception, being Susie who is allowed to develop throughout the game. She is the only character, I really enjoy in DR.

However, it also obscures the games for what they really are. Toby Fox's games are quirky modern JRPGs and bullet hell hybrids, who thematically question how we play games and uses a lot of early internet humor. Suffice to say, it is not for everyone.

I think the root of this issue lies in two things:
1. The people who had a good or neutral experience with the game are not the most active members of the community.
2. Fandom Culture has a tendency to portray the games through their experiences, this is very human.

Toby allowed himself to have one developing character thanks to Deltarune's length. It's pretty refreshing, as while Undertale's characters are likeable, they are also pretty static. Only reacting to what occurs around them briefly.

I think the new two chapters will be alright! Excited to see more from games from Mr. Fox again! He has been an inspiration of so many of the games I love today.
