2. Whatever it is, it's not vaccines. There's no concrete proof of the negative, in the same way you can't prove there *isn't* a tiny teapot orbiting the sun that telescopes can't see. But people have tried SO hard for SO long to find evidence that there's a causal link, and it just. isn't. there.

It depends on the context - a lot of the time when people are looking for "cures" or "causes" when it comes to autism, their motivation is eugenics. If the conversation about any difficult aspects of autism is being led by autistic people, & others are actually listening to us, that's different

I also will say as an autistic person that a lot of us don't actually like having it referred to as a "problem," especially when that term is used in ableist/eugenicist rhetoric. People framing us as a problem usually aren't actually interested in supporting us

The full sentence of what I wrote was "RFK Jr wants more kids to be vulnerable to infectious diseases & for you to believe that autistic people are the real "problem" you should worry about." I am saying that while RFK Jr puts more kids at risk, he is scapegoating autistic people

If you've never seen the way anti-vaccine influencers talk about their autistic kids, you're lucky. I researched the anti-vaccine movement for a piece I'm working on and it was some of the most depressing/infuriating research I've done. & these are the people who helped RFK Jr get where he is today

'Even the notion of “quality of life” as a measurable standard is based on assumptions that a “good” healthy life is one without disability, pain, and suffering. I live with all three intimately and I feel more vital than ever at this point in time, because of my experiences and relationships.'
“I’m disabled and need a ventilator to live. Am I expendable during this pandemic?”
As medical rationing becomes a reality, “quality of life” measures threaten disabled people like me.
