Aubrieta deltoidea, purple rock cress. Cabbage family and like most of those could not give AF about cold weather. It likes well drained areas.

So I harvested this Hibiscus moscheutos (hardy hibiscus) last fall for a friend. The I couldn't get through stems to her conveniently, so they've been retting on my driveway for the winter. I decided to try to debark them for ease of transportation and success!

Also from today. I gave up on procuring it myself and bought 4 yards delivered to the driveway. If those seeds don't have a garden to go in by the time spring is here, the plan doesn't work. I put down one yard today three to go.

Cute Critter Friday! Spring is coming. This is last year's pic. Just remember it's Ožujak/March. Which in Croatian means the lying month. It pretends its still winter, but we know spring is on the doorstep.

Went on an amazing blitz of the Met with friends. I got to see Daunian artifacts in person which was very profound. I was unreasonably excited about Fibula. It was totally amazing to see pieces in person that I've been stalking online. The ducks are Etruscan.

Rabbit damage this winter is insane. That's burning bush, while I have no love lost for it, that's not normal. Too many mild winters mean too many rabbits.

I have a chair near my work desk so the cat can be close. I moved a second chair up because I needed downstairs space. It is catceptable.

Here's the orchid. Just a pretty common Phalenopsis, but I've had good luck with it. It's in a north window.

My clivia is blooming. I've had two amaryllis pop open and my orchid re spiked and has four blooms. Pretty good.

Something seasonal! Winter isn't all dreary. Winterberry, Ilex verticillata. Native and a wonderful source of food for birds and other animals. It's a deciduous holly so it's not super exciting until after fall. Also a water loving plant.

Theses cuties are Iris cristata, a native iris. They grow in sun, shade, wet, dry. Just don't mulch them heavily. They do not like being buried.
Stay strong everyone. You too have the resilience of an Iris. Also the flower was named after the goddess of the rainbow.
