Purity politics shares common roots with the very systems of oppression criticized by progressive thought. On a deep level, purity politics reproduces the same exclusionary dynamics against which social organizing emerges. Yet, militant culture most often *rewards* purity and not pluralism. 🤯 🤯 🤯

Hi @fiercemum.bsky.social! I am so grateful for your thesis on cis supremacy! I thought about that for quite some time and was positively surprised to discover your work in the few results of my then google search. Thanks! 🥰

Classic epistemicide under the guise of "active interest" and "actual care".

I still actively remember my days in academia where so many "research focuses" were actually mostly performative—especially in the humanities. Finding people really caring about a topic was actually quite rare.

This distinction is so useful! I am sadly not surprised that it didn't get traction. Hypotheses as to why:
▪︎  It doesn't make sense for most people for which their lived sex is already aligned with their subconscious one
▪︎  It fundamentally complicates the relationship between sex and gender, ...
I tried to do this in Whipping Girl with "subconscious sex" and "lived sex" but unfortunately it never quite caught on

This is actually sadly not recent. Viviane Namaste already wrote in 2000 how “queer” theorists actually erased transsexual lives/needs

For intellectuals and gender theorists “revolutionaries”, we mostly exist as intellectual curiosities or useful pieces on their checkboard against “patriarchy”.

It’s a classical in-group bias. In this closed-system moral economy, privilege has to give in somewhere for the system to change.

In the meantime, AMABs carry the unprocessed shame of the system 😪

In many aspects, cisfeminism is fundamentally built on the shared assumption that *AFAB-coded people possess an ontological moral superiority or supremacy because of their AFABness*.

This 100% highlights one of the places where *patriarchy* and most of the feminist ethos perfectly intersects. I am speaking of course of *ontological female innocence*, which is upstream from most of the subtle/not-so-subtle prevalent moral superiority/supremacy of AFAB-coded people 💁🏻‍♀️🔫🤯
