Personally, I don't mind shonen tropes being applied to a very cool lady with flaming hair and a bike. seeing the fate of whole worlds and powers unimaginable handed over to some 15 year old hischooler has always been the part I dislike so u remove that and the story is perfectly enjoyable.

much the same in their fixation on exploring frightening and uncomfortable themes, and yet I struggle to recall examples of such stories where tribes aren't just proxies for the kind of nation-states we have in modern day at best if not racist caricatures at worst.
