Some of the most creative and beloved video games of all-time have come from Japanese video game creators and studios. Speaking in a new interview after winning the Art Encouragement Prize from the Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs, Smash Bros creator, Masahiro Sakurai, took part in an interview with Japanese site Entax in which he shared his views about the future of the video game industry in the Land of the Rising Sun.

IGN recently spoke with Okami 2 support developer Machine Head Works producer Kiyohiko Sakata who confirmed to the site that the long-awaited sequel is being developed using the state of the art RE Engine. Capcom is working as the publisher and the game is being developed by Clovers, The way that Machine Head Works is involved now, working together with Capcom and Clovers, is that of course we have Capcom as the major IP holder of Ōkami, deciding the major direction of the games.

It has been a long time since we got a big budget Castlevania video game, despite it being a huge franchise and having a successful animated Netflix show. Now a new rumour is doing the rounds online suggesting that Konami is preparing to revive the franchise in the same way it is doing with the Metal Gear Solid series. Portuguese site Geekinout says a new AAA game in the Castlevania series is on the way and that it will be officially announced in 2025.
