This kid must think he's an artist, or something.
(I've actually been here the whole time; I just don't think most of the stuff I draw daily is worth posting!)

The whole "Wesley is a mary sue/creator's pet" thing is pretty odd, 40 years after the fact, since the crew's failure to make him into a Model Starfleet Officer(tm) is one of the most important things to happen in that show.

Nobody ever talks about it in that way, though.

"The behavior a game rewards is the behavior a game encourages."

What behavior does Milestone encourage? You level up when the DM says so, so...nothing! You basically just have to show up and sit there!

Hell - most of the time, you don't even have to do that!

I think you're basically correct! Most people have forgotten the context for XP, I think. In AD&D, you barely got any XP from killing monsters. The vast majority of your XP came from finding treasure.

So what happened? AD&D players cared A LOT about treasure.

I'm basically down apocalyptic for the Marvel RPG now, thanks for asking.

And they always go 'it's not porn, it's erotica' and then completely fail to explain what the difference is!

A lot of their stuff is basically atheist react content, which I'm not a huge fan of, but they're usually pretty good about relating the topic of their videos back to their own personal stories and experience.

I'm not sure if they're exactly what you're looking for, but Drew (www.youtube.com/@Genetically...) and Taylor (www.youtube.com/@theantibot) are an ex-evangelical couple who talk a lot about the harm their upbringing caused them.

Nope!

I got to quit my completely soul-obliterating day job to more seriously pursue art, which was really hard to summon the courage to do.

Basically every person I know was telling me to just get on with it already, and I'm really thankful to them for that.

All in good time, I guess.

It occurs to me that I might want to have some way of people giving me money, but if we're being candid, it feels a little disrespectful to actual artists to do that before my output is, like, merely mediocre instead of fundamentally flawed.

Wishing you all the best. Going sober is hard as shit, but I hope it goes as smoothly for you as possible.

I realize this makes literally no sense, but if you get it you get it.

It's a form of possession, I think, in the "possessed by a spirit" sense. Making room for something Else, in the same way that casting a die is surrendering your fate.

And the clothes and furniture and cars that you bought were actually worth a shit, and weren't made as cheaply as possible so you'd have to rebuy them every three months!

I can't explain this, but it has the same vibe as when only children have to write dialogue between siblings.

I plan on reading a lot of indie stuff too, it'll just take longer to get here than the ten minutes it took to drive there and back.

A major design flaw of the The Calendar is that December is absolutely stacked with holidays, followed immediately by the three coldest and least exciting months.
