A thought experiment to determine if one can conceive an ethically consistent justification to order a delicious steak at a restaurant.
Drivel.

Red meat for the base. Oh, wait...

A Jacobin review pulled this quote from Abundance, attributed to its authors: "We aspire to more than parceling out the present."

These sound like the opening lines of a longtermist anthem (maybe written by a Bizarro Neil Peart).

Asking why they aspire to that gets to the heart of it all.

Yeah, it's a shame about the bad faith headline.

Maybe it's just the result of trying to wedge in a play on words about "points".

Or maybe it's a TLDR summary for the reflexively anti-poor.

Apropos of nothing but a shared interest in this topic:

Do you have any sense of what the conversation about AI is like in China?

Do they have hysterical political figures promoting an AI arms race?

They seemed so cool with the DeepSeek release; like oh, here, were y'all interested in this?

Not sure they're ethically indefensible.

We think it's always possible to conceive a defense, however contrived, for giving people something they want. The shortest path to this being: not giving people something they want may cause them to suffer.

But we don't think most people want AI (yet).

Please ask him if the Kardashev scale has anything to do with current or future American energy policy.

Pity the hourly bowling alley manager, slightly high on shoe-cleaning spray, desperately trying not to lose his shirt negotiating with your $1500/month UberMind Pro AI agent.

Remember when the most devastating insult you could level at a public figure was to call them "unserious"?

Seems so quaint now.

How much will it save Spurs?
