The comments made by Trump today about Rob Reiner do not surprise. They merely confirm the character of the person serving as our president. Morally reprehensible, he is utterly lacking in civility, humanity and compassion.

As of 10/29, the U.S. has destroyed 14 boats and killed at least 61 people in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.

In peacetime, targeting civilians — even suspected criminals — who pose no threat of imminent violence is considered murder. In an armed conflict, it is a war crime. Congress sits by.

Trump decided not to surge federal agents to San Francisco because FRIENDS asked him not to. NOT because millions of Americans have opposed this inflammatory approach!

Now that the U.S. military has expanded its strikes against alleged drug traffickers into the Pacific, when might we see evidence and justification for these extrajudicial actions?

The U.S. has deployed over 4500 sailors & marines & dozens of military assets to the Caribbean. There have been strikes against 7 boats, killing 32 people allegedly carrying illegal drugs. We have seen no evidence. There is no identifiable armed conflict with the U.S. and no author. has been given.

Don’t be fooled by any so-called “hate speech” exception to our expansive freedom of speech in this country. No such exception to our first amendment protections exists. So let Trump or his underlings be disturbed by speech they don’t like. They’re free to disagree or just move on. And that’s it.

We recoil at the inhumanity and immorality of the pervasive, daily immigration stops by masked and unidentified federal agents. Where is the legally required reasonable suspicion that must exist for each of these stops? Are human rights and due process rights being honored?

The Communications Act of 1934, which established the FCC, provides that the Commission doesn’t have censorship power over broadcasters and that it may not interfere with the right of free speech. Carr’s aggressive imitation of a playground bully doesn’t change that.

I have questions about last wk’s lethal strike against a Venezuelan boat. What was the legal basis? Where’s the congress. author., ct approval, or even evidence of imminent threat? Where’s the transparency? Eleven people were killed. What is the term for killing w/out justification? Slippery slope?

If you’re tired of President Trump throwing shade at everyone that crosses his mind, bask in the sunlight of our beautiful world and dream of better days.

In a repudiation of the centerpiece of Trump’s economic policy, a fed. appeals court has ruled that absent a valid delegation by Congress, the President has no authority to impose tariffs. Trump’s well-reasoned and cogent response? This ruling would “literally destroy the United States of America.”

In how many more ways can the Trump administration despoil, diminish and devalue our democracy; what is ours, collectively?

I just saw a NYT photo of 7 Nat’l Guard members in DC strolling past an ice cream truck. I can’t help but ask: What can they accomplish that the local force can’t? How can their deployment represent an emergency response to serve a fed. purpose, as required by law? Oh yeah, this is just a show.

In an expansion of presidential overreach and in violation of DC’s Home Rule Act, Trump’s takeover of DC hardens. Under the law, such an intervention requires “special conditions of an emergency nature” and must be for “federal purposes” only. Trump’s lawless streak continues unabated.

The T admin ordered the incineration of 500 metric tons of life saving biscuits that could have fed for a wk, 1.5M children at risk of starvation. This despite repeated pleas by USAID workers to ship them. The cost of this food? $800,000. The cost to destroy it all? $130,000. A disgrace in our name.

The massive tax & spend bill bestows its greatest benefits on the rich while eroding Medicaid & health insur, for some 11M & food assist. for some 8M of the poorest. It will supercharge often lawless deport. with some $170B earmarked for ICE. This, while add. $3.3T to the debt. Where’s the justice?

Trump said about sending the National Guard to L.A., he made a “great decision”. “If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated.” Yeah right! What an unserious person!

For the 1st time in 60 yrs. a pres. has activated a state nat’l. guard w/out author. from its governor. T’s game-plan is to redirect dissent from his failed policies and from the R’s disgraceful budget bill. Given a chance to escalate and divide, will T’s impulse be to soothe the passions unleashed?

Some 850,000 people who fled war & turmoil and were living and working legally in the U.S. may now have their lives upended thanks to 2 SCOTUS rulings issued within the span of 1 week. This is disastrous and dangerous for the migrants and represents a sizable economic loss for the country.

Trump has probed the weaknesses in our institutions and our constitutional safeguards and to his satisfaction and our grave peril, has found them woefully inadequate. While we still have our republic, the task ahead is to fortify and protect it from a treacherous and unbridled executive.

This year, Memorial Day is unlike any we’ve experienced before. Both the veterans we honor & our President took a solemn oath to protect and defend the Const. of the U.S. Appallingly, our pres. dishonors our vets’ service by his flagrant disregard for the constitutional obligations of his office.
