that might be true over most of modern history but I don't think it really applies to millennials and subsequent generations because of how much easier it's become to customize and curate what media we consume (for the time being, anyway).

in the end, no one is gonna remember "player stories" and "and then this happened" shit. they're anecdotes. but a character written with intent, voiced with intent, directed with intent? that's the shit that persists through generations, man. how lame do you have to be to want to actively avoid that
