I worked as an ASM at one back in the '00s and watched the kiddy casino stuff start taking more and more floor space at the expense of everything I had loved about arcade as a child. Especially when corporate just got rid of pinball entirely.

They used to be, but kiddy casino stuff makes more money, and unless it's owned by someone who has a passion for arcade video games, the corporate owners will always chase profit no matter how unethical.

It's a great skill for turning tight corners.

I despise how arcades have become "indoctrinate the kids into gambling" spaces via ticket redemption machines, and it's been going on for a very long time. They went from 80% video game/20% ticket game floor space split in the 90s to now being like 5%/95% in favor of kiddy casino machines.
