Established in the early post-war years, Bankei emerged as a community-focused ski area, offering accessible skiing for residents of Sapporo.

On this #travelpictuesday we want to share some amazing pictures taken by our guests and guides on a recent tour hiking the Nakasendo trail.

The tour happened on the day of the Bunka-Bunsei Customs Parade in Tsumago.  Residents dressed in traditional costumes and reenacted the Edo era customs.

Korankei is one of the best places in Japan for fall leaves as the valley is filled with over 4000 maple trees! Our guide, Kim, said that the trees are just beginning to turn and the best time to visit will be in about another 2 weeks.

On a colder day in Japan's northernmost prefecture, Hokkaido, nothing will warm you up quite like a hot bowl of ramen.
