🔹 Glaciers cover 53% of Svalbard
🔹 Between 1936-2010, mean ice thickness dropped 26 m: 0.35m/year or nearly 8 Gt annually⏳
🔹 By 2100, Svalbard glaciers are predicted to thin 2-4x faster 🚨

There is a map visualisation on promice.org/weather-stat... with locations.

We are going to update this soon as the live data feed currently uses an old production pipeline. We also have our thredds server for near-real-time data from the weather stations (including locations) - thredds.geus.dk

- I want to use this platform to re-establish my own connections in the cryosphere research community, and also communicate about what is happening in Greenland 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬
- I would also like to use this platform to trial promoting new and updated PROMICE/GC-Net datasets… so look out for those 👀

- Last year, a couple of us here in Nuuk started a book club for internationals living in Greenland. We pick a book from each of our countries each month 📚
- I am pretty big into women’s football, especially the Women’s Super League in the UK… it’s a pity I got interested after I left the UK! ⚽️

- My primary task is maintaining and developing the data production pipeline for a network of >40 weather stations on the Greenland Ice Sheet 🌨️
- I live and work in Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland. Me and my wife have been living here for 6 years now and we love it 🇬🇱🏳️‍🌈

Amazing, thanks Mike. These feeds you recommended will help get me started. I really like that your feed can be customised... so I don't have to see people I am not subscribed to or depressing political news.
