Snowflake Magazine is once again OPEN for submissions on the theme of 'International'. As with every other issue, there will be a £15 prize for best art and best written piece, details for the prize draw will be shared close to the end of July.

The main text of the post reads: 'Q: How do the themes work, do I have to talk about the LGBTQ+ community? A: The themes exist to help form a cohesive tone and idea to each issue, and can be interpreted very broadly. Your submission does not need to be about queerness, as long as you, the creator, identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. For example, if you were submitting to the Disability Issue, your piece must in some way pertain to Disability but does not need to address the intersection of disability and queerness.' We are happy to receive work that has already been published elsewhere and for you to submit that work again to others; however please also remember to check the exclusivity policies of the other publications.' Can I submit something not in English? A: Yes and Yes! We accept submissions from creators all over the world, and while our team are primarily English speakers, several members of our Snowflake team are bilingual and can review some non-English written submissions. Regardless of where you are in the world, if the submission is in English, head straight to the submission form. For other languages, please reach out to us via email if you'd like to check if we can review your work. We do require that you include an English translation of your work that we can verify the accuracy of.' On this day in 2020, in Northern Ireland, a law change allowed same-sex couples to convert civil partnerships to marriages, largely aided by the work of the Love Equality Organisation, led by NUS-USI, Amnesty International, Rainbow Project, Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Cara-Friend and Here NI.

Demigender Awareness Day highlights an identity within the non-binary spectrum, which includes demigirls, demiboys and demifluid among others.

It describes a partial connection to a gender, where individuals feel linked to multiple identities, sometimes as 'half x, half y', or to three or more.
