Get yourself a sight and some mags for $250 on Palmetto, and get some cheap bulk .223 or 5.56, few hundred bucks, check Ammoseek. Get zeroed, and you're in business. Add a stream light and good 2 point sling later, maybe a chest rig and a medikit. Under 1k USD, you can get a basic rifle setup going.

Don't forget hearing protection and a way to carry your mags and other items! I've played airsoft with a messenger bag and reloading from it sucks shit. First aid kit too, take a stop the bleed or tactical combat casualty care class.

Palmetto State Armory, this is a decent starter pack, go zero your sights in. Maybe get a backup reset sight like the Magpul MBUS. When you can get some more ammo, Ammoseek is a good resource, and extra mags. Hose clamp a quality name brand flashlight on the handguard maybe, too.
