It's such a non-issue compared to having a dozen differently shaped chargers. If you just get a sufficiently powerful charger you can charge everything with it. I think some things can definitely be successfully standardized.

It can't be a propagation thing if it was already a thing before USB-C became the standard.

There are only different strengths afaik, so some chargers don't supply enough power for certain devices. But that's not a new thing

Well the USB-C became a standard because the EU decided to start forcing companies to use it. So we just have to get the EU to make more laws like that 😅
