I agree, but it couldn't be any other way. What're they going to do, ignore SEED, G-Witch, etc for years out the gate as they work on a OYW specific setting? People want to pick their favourite suits and be able to play with whoever. Adding faux-historical stuff down the line makes more sense.

You've also got another protagonist who overcomes that taboo, shocked as they are by their own actions. The rigidity of the caste system and the Tau's devotion to it is part of their submission to the Tau'va. It's a reflection of the unhinged fanaticism seen in the Imperium; dogma over practicality.

I like to think that other castes not using weaponry is an ideal that they're supposed to live up to, but sometimes there's an angry primate with a chainsword in front of you and that's a higher priority than being perceived as being between spheres.

It's a challenging game that launched without any difficulty settings. If you've got genre experience and have locked in you'll be okay, but otherwise you'll be taking a beating. A novice has absolutely no hope; my sister thought it looked cool, tried it and coudn't get past the very first combat.
