He wasn’t, but he donated his manuscripts and office contents to BYU. There’s a nice little exhibit in the library there.

Cool! I was starting to think Chicago was getting boring, but then along comes a woman…
Do you have yo rush back to the airport, or are you going to stay the night?

I Want My Hat Back
by Jon Klassen

Pretty much the entire Mo Willems oeuvre:
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
Knuffle Bunny
the Elephant and Piggie series

(Those recs miss the “last decade” bonus by a little bit)

I wish I'd had my laptop camera turned on and recording, just to go back and see the expression on my own face when I misread that last word as "lube".

Welp, can't get the full gif animation to upload, so I guess I'll have to stick with this final frame.

Gah! Now I’m gonna have that smurfy, fruity breakfast earworm in my head for *weeks*

Beat me to it :)
Kid me thought it was so cool that "El" from this show was both the Predator and Harry the bigfoot.

...come to think of it, adult me still thinks that's pretty cool.

I was on-set for the Coolio episode!
Not participating or anything, just on a field trip with a theatrical makeup college class.
Everyone including Coolio was very gracious about having a handful of wide-eyed college kids watching the proceedings.

Did not wake up this morning expecting to head down a Ray Parker Jr. rabbit hole, but here we are.
(Infinitely preferable to doomscrolling!)

Due to thread collapsing, for a second I thought you were telling Ursula to mount one of her scheduled consultants to the wall.

At a young age I was informed by a reputable source that there is no basement in the Alamo.

Yep. Tech reference sites have also succumbed to this phenomenon.

Nice! My family was still there another year, but 89 is when I left to go to college.

Yep, pretty standard memory indexing for us. I’ve said that exact phrase many, many times, though for me Tucson was 88 to 89.
I’m not in the industry, but my brother is. So I don’t get to use the bonus “which show = which year” game, but I bet he does.

Enjoyed! Gonna go dig out my Ambush Bug mini-series for a re-read.

(Only loosely tangential, but it's so rare I get to share this)
I had an English-to-Lao dictionary which contained this gem. Brackets indicate translated Lao:

"cowherd: [person who raises cattle]"
"cowboy: [person who raises cattle in Texas]"

Sadly I lost the book itself, so no photo proof :(

Just came across that WaPo article this very week. By unfortunate coincidence it was only a few days after my new #1 “wish I hadn’t read that article” and failed to unseat that one, but yeah it’s probably #2.

*raises hand guiltily* I did that, but my carry-on was full of live, writhing crayfish.
Oblivious teen me genuinely did not think to warn the poor lady before she opened it.

Ah, understood. Thanks for that clarification. Glad I asked first.

Honest question for anyone with a legal/ethical interest:
If I hypothetically found a historically-preserved version of Subterranean Magazine's site from that time period, including working copies of the original links to the issue in question, would it be okay to post said link here?
