Fascists are counting on people like you to throw up your hands in frustration and disengage entirely. It’s in part how Putin has stayed in power. Your cynicism isn’t admirable; it’s a sign of weakness.

You say that as a point of exaggeration, but 90 democrat senators would be a radical change in power. The idea they’d act the same as a 51 person caucus is insane and is more revealing of your personal cynicism and bias than anything else.

Joyce Carol Oates is going to destroy him in real time and I for one am here for it.

People are going to lose healthcare because the GOP refuses to extend the tax credits. That’s the bottom line. You can be mad, but be mad at the responsible party here.
November 10, 2025 at 8:42 PM
They aren’t cuts. Be mad all you want, but be mad at the right thing. The tax credits were set to expire. The GOP refuses to extend them. No one has cut anything.

Because once it’s in session, there are procedural moves individual members can do. Ex: MTG has stated she’ll start naming who is in the Epstein files. There’s too many variables and too many ways this can go sideways on leadership.
November 10, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Not necessarily. Johnson has kept the House out of session. He doesn’t want to swear in the new Rep from Arizona as she’ll vote to release what the House has on Epstein. So we’ll see what actually happens.
November 10, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Do you think Johnson will bring the House back for this? I’m not seeing any indication he is, though if he doesn’t, it really underscores the Epstein of it all.
November 10, 2025 at 12:37 AM
What will be really fucked up is all it will do is teach Trump et al to shut down the airports when they want something
November 10, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Johnson is keeping the House out of session, apparently because he’s afraid of the Epstein files being released. Which makes this deal largely baffling. Unless they think they can push the House into session to take the vote.
November 10, 2025 at 12:35 AM
The house would have to approve it too. Which seems like the harder hurdle to clear
November 10, 2025 at 12:28 AM
I’m not clear what they’d even be voting for. The CR expires a week from Friday.

RFK was genuinely haunted by the conditions he saw people living in when he toured the south in the 1960s.

You’re assuming a level of competence that doesn’t seem to exist. The more likely scenario is that there is no plan and they really are this stupid. They’re clinging to some dumb internal poll that tells them it isn’t so bad, all other evidence be damned.
November 9, 2025 at 5:19 PM
My dark horse theory for how this ends is MTG stages a revolt against Johnson and brings enough GOP to band with the Democrats to oust Johnson and bring the House back into session.
November 9, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Idk, seems like the Prospect is playing on people’s inherent distrust of Schumer. Reading the article reveals he’s letting a portion of the caucus negotiate with the Senate GOP. It’s good to be seen negotiating (undercuts the claims the dems are intransigent). They don’t have to accept anything.
November 9, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Exactly this. There is a political benefit to be seen negotiating. The caucus doesn’t have to accept anything, but it’s good to send bodies to the negotiating table and to keep lines of communication open.
November 9, 2025 at 5:03 PM
I’m curious if we get to a point where there is a revolt against Johnson. I suspect his speakership might be a casualty of this.
November 9, 2025 at 4:55 PM
He’s got to win the primary first. I for one am hoping he gets humiliated again.
November 8, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Mamdani should definitely bring up they broken campaign promise when he stumps for Cuomo’s primary opponent

Lets put her in charge of something for Woke 2. Possibly refreshments.
November 8, 2025 at 5:29 AM
I don’t think so either. It was clear the Clinton administration was aware of the possibility. I can’t see Gore ignoring their warnings. I suspect the plot gets shut down that summer and the public remains largely blissfully unaware.
