There are examples around the world of preventable death due to lack of access to vaccines. Of the almost 1.5 million deaths in 2021 of those 5 to 19 years of age, about 37 of 100 deaths are attributable to infectious diseases many of which could be prevented from vaccines.

In some ways, we have become a victim of our success. Nobody has seen tuberculosis in kids, polio, measles, or any one of the many things that the US regulated to protect. I have long said the US is a very comfortable place to live in ignorance of disease and foodborne illness.
