What are the penalties for standard LEO for leaving the scene of a crime scene and weapons discharge and the subsequent death of the individual struck by said officers sidearm? Asking for a friend. Seems to me after some extensive reading they are severe. Temp suspension? Internal affairs review?

One of the rules of basic firearms safety is: Never EVER point your weapon at a target unless you intend to fire. So what were his intentions in this situation in a crowd? Did he properly assess what was behind his target? These clowns are NOT trained in gun safety. Dangerous and terrifying.
