It's me!
It's hard not to pile the RichaadEB version! If we ever do another episode of missed covers I might see if so can find a metal version that tops it.

I think I played F-Zero 99 after watching your video on it! I only played a little bit though. I think I had other games on my plate then. I'm happy to know that even real F-Zero fans only know two songs!

I always try to include wrestling facts in the info if it comes up in research now because I know you'll be interested in it! I bet Rousey watches the Shrek 1 scene before every fight just to get in the headspace

Hell yeah! It's an absolute honour to be part of your Friday. I'm loving that shirt too!

I want them to release the Butterfly Voucher version with unprocessed vocals. Gimme that raw demo feel!

KiD RAiN is absolutely obnoxious but because of that it's also the one that is stuck in my head most often now.

Alex has been sitting on this playlist since March I think so he was pretty eager to do it! I imagine there are very few people who know this song but haven't seen Shrek 2.

You sounded so confident that you even had me convinced for a minute! I had to Google it to be sure.

Springsteen has sort of adapted and changed his musical stylings a lot through the years, maybe not as much as David Bowie (who was a Springsteen fan himself) but enough that comparing the two wouldn't be crazy to me. So in short, no I don't think it's accurate to compare The Boss to The Loaf 😅
August 29, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Billy Joel might be a more apt comparison than Meat Loaf given they grew up in roughly the same area and both like to wax poetic about that sort of blue collar youth culture. Billy Joel is pretty musical theatre though.
August 29, 2025 at 6:58 PM
I can see the connection between Springsteen's Born to Run and Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell given the emphasis on car culture. Meat Loaf is more musical theatre though. Springsteen is more based in folk and rock like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, maybe CCR and some others.

Thank you! I think our 300th episode actually happened in June sometime but it's nice to have Bruce be the 300th for us somewhere!

I think Meat Loaf is the US Meat Loaf and his counterpart in the UK would be Bonnie Tyler given that Jim Steinman wrote heavily for both of them.

90s nostalgia as a whole may be better than Death Stranding 2 but it'd take more than a bottle of vodka for DK64 to feel enjoyable. What category were you running and what's your best time?
August 19, 2025 at 12:46 AM
I'm not a serious vibe guy in any context so I'm not sure how well I'd get on at a tournament.

DKC and Guitar Hero/Rock Band are definitely big nostalgia touchpoints for Alex and I. Right now though I'm occupied with Death Stranding 2 and Alex is probably emulating some game from 1997.

I got mad respect for a Melee player, especially a drunk melee player. I've got more than few drunk Smash Bros hours under my belt but I mostly just compete with friends. I feel like Dead or Alive needs all the fans they can get to beat the reputation of being way too horny.
August 13, 2025 at 10:54 PM
Oh cool! Did you compete at the tournament or were you just there as a fan? I've always thought about getting real deep into a fighting game but I fear I may already be too old to be competitive!

I've looked up the pronunciation for Geelong and it honestly bothers me more than it should.
August 11, 2025 at 11:54 PM
My partner's from New Zealand and she lived in Australia for a bit so I've got a bit of insider info on Aussie pronunciation! Looks like I'll be saying Fremantle on air again soon so thanks for the tip.

Gotta say I've never heard of Stubbs the Zombie until now. Definitely some interesting covers on there. If we ever do another episode focused on covers we've missed then I'll definitely chuck this Earth Angel one on!

Glad to have you listening even if it is on the worst podcast app in the business! We've tried to keep things relatively positive ever since the time we ripped on two children for their cover of...In the Aeroplane Over the Sea I think. So it's nice to see that pack of negativity is coming through!
July 25, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Haha it reminds me of that video where the guy plays the shitty recorder version of the Jurassic Park theme over the scene where they see dinosaurs for the first time.

Damn I hope it's still relevant because Yacht Girl Summer is really good!
April 2, 2025 at 11:42 PM
Hmmm, I'll have to run it by ol' @somealexwiseguy.bsky.social. It'll be a hard sell; that man hates both yacht rock and theme months!
April 2, 2025 at 11:06 PM
I am never surprised to find out you've heard a song from a video game. Fun thing about GTA V is I'm pretty sure Kenny Loggins is the DJ for the rock station!
April 2, 2025 at 10:27 PM
I'm beyond thrilled that we got to introduce you to the concept of yacht rock. I was thinking of doing a whole summer of yacht rock for the podcast but I'm worried that's too much yacht for one podcast to rock
April 2, 2025 at 10:26 PM
The weird thing is I must've played the song in Rock Band and I still didn't know the lyrics that well! But I do know Space Cowboy specifically because of Rock Band. I'd be curious to see how many people actually bought the Steve Miller Band DLC though.
