This fundamental understanding of what made #Section31 an interesting idea in DS9 is why we’ll keep getting the dogshit we just got. S-31 wasn’t compelling because it was mysterious, it was compelling as part of a story because it was a foil to the optimism of Trek, and rightly refuted in universe
