A beautiful Slow Way in Reykjavik along the Elliðaárdalur valley.
A small river with a small waterfall in the distance. In the foreground are purpley blue lupins, yellow dandelions and various other lush green spring flowers. Perfect for a picnic. A wooden bridge across a small river. Small trees edge the river and a track runs up from the bridge through the trees. The sky is clear blue, it’s a warm spring day. The side of a decent sized waterfall, with a steep cliff on the far side of the river and some tall evergreen trees. A great picnic spot. A big waterfall viewed from above. The white water tumbles down the cliffs. A large family picnics at the top of the waterfall.

Happy Eurovision Day y’all! 🎶🎉
Enthusiastic Eurovsion fan attempts to straddle a giant gold microphone prop as if singing a power rock chorus. Backdrop is a large black sign with ERIKA in large red capital letters, and Ich Komme in smaller gold letters. Erika is this year’s Finnish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. A map of Basel with the words ‘Basel, Tiny, But Shiny’. A pointy arm with a pointy finger points from the right to the exact point on the map where the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place. In the background is a street scene with glimpses of a green tram and red and white striped bollards. A wide photo of kaleidoscopic coloured light effects in a pleasing medley of soft pinks, golds, orange and pistachio green. The image was made using the panorama feature on a phone camera during Armenia’s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

We have snow in Yorkshire, which may or may not be terrible depending… Happy today Gonzo 😻

Today’s adventure was to Bolton Abbey. I do like a meadow and a ruin in autumn.
Looking across meadows towards Bolton Abbey, tucked away on the left. A long winding footpath squiggles away from the viewer’s feet and disappears in the distance. To the left at the bottom of a steep wooded slope the river Wharfe gurgles and clinkles. It is autumn and beech trees climb up the slope in glorious gold and russet. On the far side of the river a flat green meadow with a flat wide path may make the viewer wonder why they have chosen the high steep path on this side.

I completed my #SlowWays Leeds to Harewood adventure by walking from Alwoodley to Meanwood, woodland and streams, an autumn leaf kicking delight. Unexpected outcome of walking this Slow Way: I have learned a little about the history of the water supply for Leeds 💦 🚿
A stone Victorian aqueduct, with a succession of wide arches curving through late autumn woodland. The pale warm yellow and grey stones blend harmoniously with the woodland colours. The aqueduct used to carry water to north Leeds, its no longer used, and is now grade 2 listed.

Part two of my #SlowWays walk between Leeds and Harewood, was a terrific 5🌟+ from Harewood to Alwoodley. Easy bus connections to/from Leeds at both ends, and glorious countryside with views in between.
On the left a young autumnal oak tree with warm orange colouring stands at the top of a hill, and beyond is a long view of north Yorkshire fields and walls, bright green with some cloud patterns shifting across the land. Above roll soft clouds, with pale blue skies peeking through.

An autumn 5☀️ #SlowWays Leeds Station to Meanwood, following route Leehar Two (which continues to Harewood). I often only walk part of a Slow Way, they are great for finding local connections, as well as plotting longer journeys.
Tall thin oak tree in woodland. The leaves are autumnal green, brown, orange citrus, and the dark branches curl and spindle. Through leafy gaps warm orange brick houses and green grassy fields rise up on the far valley side.
