Happy Anniversary to us!! We went for a 6 mile hike and birdwatching adventure. 🪶the list ended up being pretty small because my partner didn’t want to stop much due to a huge number of mosquitoes. Got a few good pics anyway.

Help with ID?? I think it’s a juvenile European Starling waiting around for someone to feed it at my feeder but my hubby says it doesn’t look right!! 🪶 we looked up the image on google and it came back with a Jackdaw but there is NO WAY there is a Jackdaw in my back yard all the way in Nebraska USA.

Help with ID?? Camping with the kids this weekend was a mild success. Taking a bird walk didn’t go so well but I got an ok list. We did also see a humming bird but couldn’t identify the species because we didn’t have binoculars at the time. The indigo buntings also didn’t make the list but I got a photo of one! 🪶

Today is the start of the Nebraska Birding Bowl to celebrate National Bird Month here in the US! I’m competing in the “Dabbling Birder” category.
I can always count on a RWBB to pose for a good photo, and I also had 2 disruptive geese pose for a rather artistic shot today. 🪶

Work was terrible today so I braved the 3pm sun to grab a fairly decent list. I had my binoculars with me so significantly less photos. I also saw a muskrat and 2 big ol snapping turtles!! 🪶

Today I can’t get out to the Prairie because of this awful thing called “work” 🙄so instead I’ll post some photos from yesterday showing the recovery from the controlled burn we did several weeks ago.
Controlled burning is a completely normal means of maintaining the health of Tall Grass Prairies.
