Black Sheep used to produce a beermat where the sheep's nose protruded out sideways. Terry, the late landlord of the Black Bull in Boroughbridge, was so sick of picking these fragments off the floor, that on receiving a new batch, he would painstakingly snip all the noses off first.

Amazed they didn't call the street the Woods, or Woodland Drive

Some years ago when we used to have annual work trips to Chester Races, we would always call at the Union Vaults, a proper backstreet old skool boozer with bar billiards and Everard's Tiger, and the Old Boot, Sam Smith's with plastic pint pots on race days. Reminiscences rather than recommendations!

I was there at Easter. Picked up a couple of the Origins bottles (unopened as yet) as well as having a couple of pints.
