It was definitely different, and... he didn't mind it. Thinking about a past or future that could have been was kind of nice. Different. Interesting.

"You're the one who didn't want them first." Honestly? If Steve had wanted those tiny little gross fish, he'd have agreed to it.

"Left slaughtering cows to move to New York and tailor suits. Sounds like I have a lot of secrets," he teased, looking down at himself. He was a far cry from looking like a tailor.

"I used to wear nice suits."

Bucky wondered how much of what Yelena was saying was the one thing she had wished for, or if it was all just a game of pretend. He'd never allowed himself much in terms of 'pretend reinventing' because it would matter, nothing would change. His past was who he was, but it didn't define him anymore.
