Last time I did so, I wrote about your frankly disgusting decision to vote in favor of censuring Representative Al Green for standing up to Donald Trump. At a time when my community and I are living in fear of the Trump regime's assault on the rule of law and my fellow immigrant neighbors, you chose to collaborate instead of represent our interests. When I last wrote, I chose to give you some grace as I'm sure there was some pressure from the Democratic party to fall in line but what you have done this time is truly sickening. The statement you put out on the victory of Zohran Mamdani was truly revolting. What we need at this time are fighters who will represent the needs of the working class and the needs of immigrants. Your statement is grotesque and is not befitting of a supposed Democrat. I know you will continue to fail me and the rest of your constituency again so I do not expect a retraction of your statements but you must know the shame that I and so many others in the 4th district feel, knowing that we have you as a representative. If you continue to stand for the oligarchy, racism, xenophobia and islamophobia, know that your time in office will be limited. There is no shortage of talent in the district that can and will either primary you in the Democratic primary or defeat you in the general election. If by some miracle, you choose to change course, there are many who would be willing to welcome you back with open arms, but that will never be me. I knew you would disappoint when you sent my family, a family of immigrants, mailers during the 2024 election that fear-mongered about "invasion at the southern border", but you truly have gone above and beyond with proving that you do not belong in the Democratic party.

I think that this type of thing should be completely disqualifying in the political landscape we're in.

The American people expect and deserve that their elected representatives uphold a certain level of decorum and civility on the House Floor and in the halls of Congress. Unfortunately, in recent years we have seen members of both parties undermine basic standards of decorum and civility during Presidential addresses to Congress. Disrupting and being removed from a Joint Session of Congress does not advance our efforts to lower costs, prevent harmful trade wars, or prevent devastating cuts – instead, it provided a distraction from those issues. I believe that we must apply the same, consistent standard to all members, regardless of party. I strongly support when the U.S. House of Representatives voted to rebuke Rep. Joe Wilson after he breached decorum during President Obama’s Joint Address to Congress. That is why I voted for H.Res. 189. However, I am disappointed that the House chose to spend time on this distraction instead of getting back to governing on behalf of the American people. While we may not see eye to eye on this vote, I remain committed to standing up for Long Island and our shared values and will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind. The future of software development is grim. Software is already incredibly brittle, full of bugs, useless features and horrible performance but to learn that there's even one professional dev out there that depends on AI slop to get work done is terrifying.
