I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Yeah, I get that it was a big smash and grab program but that doesn’t really change my point. It’s fair to criticize anyone who took the money for spurious reasons, especially when they were very vocal about the corrosive nature of bailouts

Yeah, this is very solvable by just saying James Bond is a code name that comes with the 007 designation and move on

Yeah, aside from the book hypocrisy, the bit that bothered me is that risk of a market downturn hurting fees is inherent to the business model. Also, given how billing cycles work, it’s doubtful they actually experienced any real disruption

Eh, a wealth manager taking PPP money because their asset based fees went down is a bit different than a restaurant owner or whatever.

This is the opposite of a real issue. Just say James Bond is a code name and get on with it

Yeah, this is not an actual problem. Just say James Bond is a code name that come with the 007 designation and move on with things

Yeah, wait. I don’t understand the issue. I didn’t think continuity was a huge issue with the franchise?

It’s funny because there was a period when bankers and asset managers tried so hard to talk like technologists and not investors

Anyway, it’s good to remember this when people tell you Musk had a grand plan for Twitter the whole time. Like, it’s possible some of his cohorts/enablers did; however, Musk basically bought Twitter because he went on a bender after getting dumped and made some bad decisions.

Oh yeah, for sure. Like I don’t think that we should have elevated them to some sort of Demi-god like soothsayer.

I’m not defending them as people and I think that Musk, in particular, is a bad businessman who’s main play for like a decade been pretty obvious fraud.
Still, right place/right time not withstanding, lots of people lived through dotcom and ZIRP without becoming fabulously wealthy

They were both wealthy before ZIRP and Andreesen, in particular, was an already successful VC.
So, ZIRP might have a been an accelerant to their wealth and, it appears, madness but you can’t say they weren’t investors
