Admiral James organised Operation Cycle to rescue Allied troops from Upper Normandy in June 1940. Cycle rescued over 15k troops.
Unfortunately because of fog in the Channel many men of the 51st (Highland) Division and it’s attached units could not be rescued from St Valery
