as an investment in small venues and new collectives, because you being there can mean they can also grow, and if they grow, everyone will grow. next time, the same venue and collective might be able to book you for a fee even higher than ur regular.

but if an underground venue is booking you for a type of event that basically helped launch and nurture ur career just some years ago, maybe it's good to consider a way of playing these 'community' gigs here and there
