Lifelong learner, presently into water media and urban sketching.
I had a similar experience in a painting class; we had to reproduce a study of a master painting of an expressive portrait. I chose this one. I learned so much about color and color relationships. I especially like that the eyes are warm/cool greens in opposite color scapes.

I really like how you captured the organic movement (& color!) of the waves in contrast to the mechanical/orderly movement of a person walking. The pirate outfit is icing on the cake — well done!

Indanthrone blue is my favorite pigment! I first got a tube when I was into oils, and haven't painted without it in years.

I love that store, the street it is on is also magical with the Firenze Duomo peeking out at the end of the street. The shopkeepers are also so friendly.

I prefer the process of painting abstract, it is so fun to see how the paints interact on the paper. But I think I have a preference for enjoying a more realistic landscape after the painting has finished.

I think you've captured the tension of traffic beautifully. As a fellow Clevelander, I am familiar with this spot. In my opinion, you've captured the intermittent rain clouds vs. full sun within an hour beautifully — well done!

I found you through the hashtag watercolor. I returned to insta only to be disappointed with the huge number of ads, tons of videos and too much ai. Bluesky seems to be a much better place.

It is interesting how some water colors appear very opaque with a gouache like texture.
