Dresden files gets better about book 3. He wrote the first one while in college. I like Jacka's Alex Verus series better than Dresden or Sandman Slim myself. Starts with Fated.

That series is very good.

Urban fantasy/political thriller would be fun

If you are a fan of Jacka you'd probably like MD Presley's Inner Circle series. Two books so far.

My two favorite series are 20 Palaces and Jacka's Alex Verus. Just reread Child of Fire. Its immersive and gritty.

I'm a fan of Dresden but like Benedict Jacka even more. He has a completed series ( starts with Fated) and a news series ( starts with Inheritance of Magic). Some other authors I like are Harry Connolly (20 Palaces) Jim Hines (Libriomancer), and MD Presley(Inner Circle).

One of the great UF series.

Big fan of this and the sequel. Great world building. Benedict Jacka fans are particularly likely to enjoy this.
