Volunteer plants bring me joy. Under the bird feeder are thistles, sunflowers and wheat about to bloom.

Being a vegetarian in the South is challenging. Most people cater meetings with Chick-fila boxes and barbecue. It’s the worst feeling when you ask for a no meat option they didn’t think about, and then being offered a cookie or the lettuce and tomato slice someone didn’t want on a burger.
