Here is a small QoL improvement for #SMKDX
You can now select sub-categories for "Retry", either to play again on the same track, to jump onto the next track or a complete random track.
The default "sub-category" can be saved in the Settings (SRAM).

Since I've been slacking the past few days, here's a bit of behind the scenes during development of the Star Road theme. You can clearly see the basis off of Rainbow Road here, as well as the preview of the "Warp Star" tile.

This is the one that hit me with a big source of inspiration. ScouB decided he wanted to add the Angry Sun from SMB3 as the obstacle for the Desert Land theme.

I chimed in with the idea of bringing the feeling back of SMB3 where the Angry Sun was a nuisance that you needed to avoid.

For the Fiery Volcano theme, the standard obstacles were going to be the scrapped prototype "Bubble" enemies from beta versions of SMK. I personally always liked these enemies and was happy to see ScouB bring them back in! These lil guys go all the way back to 1991 in development!

(2021/12/19) ScouB starts prototyping ideas for some of the new themes! Star Road is themed after Super Mario World's special world, taking place in the sky. The idea was to be the "Deluxe" version of Rainbow Road! ScouB was on a roll over the next few days with themes

(2021/12/15) I progress more on development of the Gate Battle mode revival, and figure out how to properly implement it in the main menu. Internally I reconfigured the game to run on a whole new game control system, which took a TON of code.

My extended modes work was coming along nicely!

From this point until our collaboration announcement, we were working "separately in secret" :)

The plan was that ScouB would do designs and I would do asm work, but we ended up mixing and matching a lot

(2021/12/05) More advanced projects require more advanced tools. I was finally proud to release the updated version of Project L that we would be using to develop SMKDX. A ton of the features were not really "visible", so I decided to speedtest a raw build to show my speed improvements!

(2021/12/02) On ScouB's end, he is making the first new "Deluxe" additions to his hack, importing some of the prototype obstacles (like the tire stack) back in to start on the new themes!

He also works with R4M0N to help with tools for mirroring the tracks easier!

(2021/12/02) I begin work on my own independent hack whose main goal is to revive the lost prototype SMK Battle Modes that got scrapped in favor of cartridge space!

First up was the one that was the most complete and has the most potential: the Gate Battle. and oh boy was this a ride...

(2021/11/30) It's finally L's time to shine! After finalizing most modifications to Project L, I posted this clip showing that I was able to build the debug modes properly and translate stuff to english.

I finally had complete control over building Super Mario Kart!

(2021/11/18) ScouB (@scoubsmk.bsky.social) embraces the "Deluxe" dynamic of the hack and makes a custom title screen, based off of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe logo.

He also makes the executive decision to add in 5 more cups (25 more tracks) to be playable (THE MADMAN!!)

(2021/10/31) ScouB learns a bit more about how to use Project L from both me and DirtbagMonkey. His new goal is to extend not only the cc classes, but to add more track selections into a base rom, using a prototype Battle track as a test to add new data and extend the selection menus!

(2021/10/27) Super Mario Kart Deluxe begins development as an unnamed project by ScouB as a stress test of my Project L build environment to make a non-trivial hack!

ScouB's first goal: Extend the cc classes in SMK to be selectable up to 300cc, and modify the title screen menu!
