I think the truth is Liberals are progressive conservative in the sense they have found a medium of voters who reject the far-right politics of Poilievre, but are still in the neoliberal, pro market, austerity position.

They may be right wing, but there’s also a big tent within the party.

Selective populism? I’m not seeing that, Carney is a technocrat, not an exclusionary anti elitist that we see with the conservatives.

Going to have to give me an example of newspeak there.

All in all I think you’re engaging in hyperbole. Or have some partisan exaggerations.

Any party can appeal to the middle class. I don’t think I’ve seen Carney cater towards Xenophobic attitudes that can be present there. Contempt for the weak. Yes Liberals are not socialist and have made some cuts to services, but they also helped bring pharmacare and dental care.

The liberal party still holds progressive pro LGBT values as well as supporting continuing protections for visible groups within the caucus. They also have technocrats in the senate and guided by evidence based policies.

Cult of Tradition and fear of difference don’t seem to fit here.

Then by all means, demonstrate that statement.

Which points of the 14 Characteristics of Fascism are fulfilled by Mark Carney’s policies?
February 1, 2026 at 10:43 PM
Hey that’s fine, I even come across some on the hard left that even call Mainland China fascist for adopting some form of market based economy.

There should be a strict criteria before throwing the fascist label. Especially if they follow the 14 points or something to that effect.

It’s easy to think you have high standards in the comfort of your sheltered extreme positions which haven’t been held to public scrutiny. Part of me would like to see a far left party experience some representation in parliament to grow out of that phase.

Might be a blip to you but it was a very significant event and a strong enough statement to provoke a response that hamas wanted anyway. But it has costed them everything, and shows to me that supporting them is a losing strategy.

They liked death, and wanted to die. How do you build from that?
January 30, 2026 at 7:03 PM
All it takes is a gander with Amnesty International and the ICC Charges against Mohammad Dief and Yahya Sinwar to acknowledge that Hamas committed their share of slaughter. I’ve yet to find users online who will concede that. But will talk endlessly how they care about innocents.

Yup, actually Hamas did the very thing you just mentioned to female hostages. They kidnapped and enslaved them, assaulted them. On top of that, they managed to keep a Yazidi girl as well.

You might want to as Canadians including myself do care when your uninformed opinions pose a threat. So don't come around swinging aimlessly if you don't want to be proscribed.

You’re talking about hamas right?
January 28, 2026 at 1:23 PM
Supporting Hamas is a losing strategy for the Palestinians. Remember that.
