www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/o... There is no attempt from the administration to justify cutting the NEH, NEA, or NSF. DOGE does not consider the public good. It’s heartbreaking because there are limited sources for the kind of funding needed for research and program in North Dakota.
Opinion | Why DOGE Slashed the National Endowment for the Humanities
Eliminating federal funding for the humanities saves next to no money, but it will cost the American people something precious.

The NEH Program that our research team landed in December to use a Deep Mapping process to map the Red River Valley has been canceled. We live in the wealthiest country in the world; we can afford to spend some of our shared wealth supporting the humanities. Right? #neh #humanities #deepmapping

Very important #NEH 🧵 from a former program officer there. 👇
A few tips for NEH grantees:
1) if you've spent money on an awarded grant but have not yet drawn down the funds, make sure to submit the paperwork to drawn down funds ASAP.

2) the NYTimes article suggests that "DOGE" might cancel awards. If you receive an email from DOGE cancelling your NEH award,

To my #StandUpForScience & #NIH #NSF #IES friends - the #Humanities needs our support. It's easy to get stuck in our divisional silos but if you didn't know, the DOGE is planning to basically eliminate the #NEH (via RIF of 80% staff & cancelling ALL existing grants) 💔 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/01/a...
DOGE Demands Deep Cuts at Humanities Endowment
The National Endowment for the Humanities, which supports museums, scholarship and historical sites, could see grants curtailed and staffing slashed by up to 80 percent.
