That's her game style though! All out power tennis, and likes shorter rallies

I disagree personally, raducanu won a lot of points because of her great defence IMO. But yeah, they were both struggling on serve too.

She's a great mover and a great defender, so opponents often have to do more to get a ball past her, causing them to overplay/make unforced errors

She's one of those players with such power that almost every match's outcome is largely on her racquet

Great pod! Sorry to be a pendant, but Arthur Fils' last name is pronounced 'Feece' (like Fleece) (just like Monfils)

It's a really fun group this year! It's an interesting mix of more established young players with a point to prove (Fils, Michelsen, Mensik) and really fresh faces (Tien, Basavareddy). And then Fonseca, who's just so exciting.

You will be missed! 😘

I suspect you're right. It's just so depressing that those are the only two countries who can/seem willing to be the highest bidders in hosting tennis tournaments these days

Oh I see sorry I didn't engage fully enough to realise that 😂 well that sounds very good then!

I'm not saying I disagree, just genuinely wondering

One counter argument is that super stores are often cheaper than smaller metro supermarkets so couldn't losing them from an area increase the price of people's shops/force them to travel further away for equivalently priced goods?

He also has one of the most instantly recognisable faces. There's no way they hadn't heard of him!

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about this on a future pod! Does feel like with Italy already having Turin for the ATP Finals it might have been a nice gesture to give the DC to another tennis-loving nation (e.g. Czechia) for a bit of variety. Having said that, I'm sure it's very fun in Italy!

I would have had zero chill in that situation too, and now he has a funny (scary?) story to tell. Did you just proclaim it and walk away?
December 2, 2024 at 11:19 PM
Ahh I see. My mind went straight to imagining dramatic and nefarious politics in his editorship or something. Speaking of, I enjoyed your Origin Story on Netenyahu!

For someone who hasn't read the NS in a while, can you please expand on what you mean by his "reign of terror" (i.e., what has he done?) I used to love reading it back in 2017-2018 when I had a subscription!

Ooh I see 😬 I read that she is an atheist, supports a woman's right to an abortion, and has more tolerant views on marriage than (evangelical Christian) Kruger. So I kind of just extrapolated "nicer politics" from there haha
November 27, 2024 at 7:55 AM
I get the impression they have quite different political views, but I'm not sure
November 26, 2024 at 10:23 PM
A solid 8 for sure! I was banking on Murray coaching Draper

Feels like it's increasingly uncool to admit liking Coldplay songs, but that album is just banger after banger

The joyful tone in which "willy" is said thoroughly cracked me up
