Ancient historian, temple attendant for three dainty-pawed gods who sometimes make their epiphanies. Looking for more honesty and less malice in politics, but getting this thing instead.
On point (evidently the point was so pointed that the OP doesn't care for this topic to be raised):
Now that Dems have capitulated, at the very least they should now make every future extension of funding contingent on Trump following the law. Any lawbreaking must be met with: No more votes from us, period.

My exchange with @brianbeutler.bsky.social on that point:

Or this dark twist, a serial killer with a rather nasty Walter Mitty complex: "I'm afraid our hour is up, James, we'll have to pick up there next week. Thursday at 1:00 still good for you?"

Often appliance part warehouses/wholesalers will sell you the part for vastly less than you'd pay for it online.

Simple fix!

The old difference between observer & observed. If you dial your perspective way back to 1965, then yeah there were gop ops whose mantra was "o/c we need reform in this country - eventually, but not yet". The let's-not-be-precipitous Republicans are extinct now thanks to the burn-it-all-down crowd.

Quite a pitch: "Help me fix this slop so I can put all y'all out of work asap".

Well, except to dictators. I recall the obv fixed 1978 Cup final refereed by a corrupt official hand picked by Argentine General Jorge Rafael Videla; he had unilaterally rejected FIFA's referee. This was after the dictator had already fixed their 1st round match against Peru. FIFA went along w/ it.

Very few non-white voters in NH, but most of the population lives in the urban/suburban SE corner. Hassan has 3 of her 4 state offices located there. Politicians tend to ignore the western and northern halves of the state.

Their time in DC is spent socializing with, fundraising from, and listening to the complaints & wheedling of extremely rich, pampered, well connected people. Another way of saying the same thing is that they're the kind of ppl who don't see the problem w/ elected officials trading in stocks.

For someone who had no chance, he came remarkably close to winning. Not saying Humphrey ran a good campaign, but a broken toaster would have been preferable to Nixon.

I think Shaheen wants the public to think she's a damn fool. She voted to confirm virtually all of Trump's nominees, no matter how vile. That's a choice. She chose to play nice with MAGA here as well. "I was misled by their promises" is how Collins has maintained a veneer or respectability in ME.

Well to be scrupulously fair it worked exceptionally well in 1968 wrt ending the Vietnam War when people sent a stern message to Humphrey by refusing to vote at all.
