I’m reminded of a transphobe saying “they’re giving these drugs to people as young at 6!!1!” and wondering if they’re going to still be fomenting conspiracy.

Aside from their use in gender dysmorphia cases, are they going to be banned for precocious puberty too? Stupid and evil.

Not having indexes? I think for a period bulk upload remove indexes, add content, add indexes can be fast.

failing that, loading data into a temp table initially and then going “insert into select from” to transfer it over in 1 hit. (Dunno if that’s “bulk insert”)

I feel like the future is smaller social networks, down to individual signal/whatsapp group chats, and that Bluesky might persist as a larger point on that spectrum, even if it’s not Twitter sized.

You don’t need to maintain a research project, I guess?

We could have blocklists, but only for reply permissions.

Like it’s *kind of* true, but in reverse: America conquers the world by accumulating its people.

It means cum; did that motivate your approach to posting?

I get emailed security warnings because I don’t features enabled that aren’t available on my tier. Horrible stuff.

I mostly use signal, and then WhatsApp for family/normie ones. They’re… okay. The per-group “mute notifications for 8h” feature is very helpful.

Then there are a couple of slack groups and tbh I think signal is better.

Not sure what else is happening, seems like a ripe area.

Your preference here - as I would frame it, “that social media is more like a big group chat than a blog” - is key IMO.

As someone who gets more joy out of group chats these days, I’m inclined to agree.

But “I’m writing to get an audience, and this platform is bad at that because of widely adopted blocklists” might be a reasonable conclusion, however one fills themselves.

If the platform remains committed to decentralised moderation, what do you think the fix is here? Encourage people to be careful of which block lists they subscribe to? It’s a big power to hand over flippantly.

Or is decentralised moderation, where anyone can make a blocklist, itself unsustainable?

It’s my responsibility as a father, posting them here is just a bonus.
