Where I live storms travel west to east leaving the sun to shine freely on the receding thunderstorms. This evening almost a decade ago was a nice example of mammatus clouds with a rainbow. But wait! there's more! #lightning #storms #rainbow #Australia #ipswich #clouds #nikon #timing

The 2002 Brighton Beach Party gets all the news, but somehow by chance I happened to be in the area with my girlfriend on 7th July 2001 for a manic night of non-sandy beach party fun and sweaty Brighton Corn Exchange after-party.

large crowd gathered on Brighton Beach for the 2001 live on Brighton Beach party. Brighton Pier is visible behind the crowd. Fatboy Slim a.k.a. Norman Cook is visible on a big screen in the distance. The beach is packed with you big beat enthusiasts and quite a few excited international tourists. Brighton Beach on a beautiful sunny July afternoon, a crowd gathers on blankets before the 2001 Brighton Beach party with Fatboy Slim this evening. Seagulls are present above the waiting crowd of young Big Beat enthusiasts. A smoky haze lilts down the beach, pungent with a mix of cigarette and marijuana smoke. There is some cool lens flare in the picture. Party time on Brighton Beach with thousands of Big Beat enthusiasts and Funk Soul Brothers having a good time together in a very wholesome manner, unlike in 2002. A large screen is visible in the distance, maybe with Timo Maas playing, not sure. His set on the beach was a bit boring, but he really had it right for the after party, where his set was a highlight, along with the Plump DJ's. Norman was a bit under the weather by that stage I seem to remember.
