In all seriousness, it is a huge issue that the PM refuses to meet with leaders of a major social movement because they're "affiliated" with an opposition party.
Would be great if lots of you all sent a similar inquiry to his office. And even better if the press asked him about it.

After your victory in the 2023 election, you stated that you "want[ed] to bring the country together" and that you would be a prime minister for all New Zealanders. Today, you refused to meet with the hīkoi at Parliament grounds, stating "I was open to [meeting hīkoi organizers] but the reality frankly is many of them are Te Pāti Māori-affiliated."
I am seeking clarification regarding the Prime Minister's position with respect to meetings. Does he categorically refuse to meet with anyone "affiliated" with an opposition party, or does this only apply to the hīkoi? What level of relationship does he consider "affiliated"? Is it the Prime Minister's position that he will only meet with people who voted for him? Are prospective meeting attendees asked if they currently support the National Party?
As Aotearoa New Zealand is a democracy, access to public officials is a matter of significant public interest. If Luxon says he won’t meet the protestors because of their likely political affiliation, the he is failing his primary role. Luxon is PM of the whole country - not just his falling supporters.
